![]() Most works of this type took the form of black humor, sometimes making light of subjects widely considered more serious. Humor and satire were a large part of the content of the trench journals. They were largely informal and humorous, and contained many examples of "inside" vernacular and jokes. Trench magazines contained multitudes of different media, including poetry, short stories, songs, and satirical advertisements and cartoons. There were also some minor American, Canadian, and Australian magazines in this genre that existed as well.
